Abstract

The mesio-distal and vestibulo-lingual sizes of the teeth vary in populations and between individuals, suggesting that genetic polymorphisms are involved in this phenotype. The genes of the RANK / RANKL / OPG system are involved in dental development. In this way, the objective of this work is to evaluate the association of genetic variations in RANK, RANKL and OPG with dental measurements. Samples of 100 patients attended at the Orthodontics Clinic of the School of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto - University of São Paulo, will be used. Three different measurements will be made in each model with Digital Caliper with straight and parallel points with precision to the nearest 0.1mm and with study models placed on a flat surface under the same uniform illumination. Saliva will be collected as a source of genomic DNA. After DNA extraction, genotyping will be performed using the TaqMan assay by the real-time PCR method. Parametric and / or non-parametric tests will be used to evaluate the difference of the means according to the genotypes. (AU)
