Abstract

We are going to study Bose-Einstein Condensates (BEC) beyond Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) mean-field approach, pursuing novel methods that take in account the depletion of atoms from the same quantum state, absent in GP mean-field. These new methods are already being studied in what is called Multi Configurational Time-Dependent Hartree (MCTDH) whose can be used in the limit of stronger interactions either between the atoms or within a external potential than those where GP equations are capable to describe. In developing this new approach, it is possible to search regimes where there is disagreement with GP equations, furthermore, opening a way to measure the condensate fraction and correlation functions. We are going to develop codes to solve equations in this MCTDH method, firstly for one dimensional periodic systems, studying some current themes as persistent currents in a ring and Spin-Orbit Coupling (SOC) between pseudo-spin-1/2 either with only Rashba term or balanced with Dresselhaus. In those proposed systems, it will be done calculations sweeping a wide set of values to the interaction strength and exploiting the action of a time dependent external potential, also looking for the ground and excited states, condensate fraction, correlation functions for density, deviation from the GP prescription and phase diagrams.
