Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the use of tannin extracts (SilvaFeed Bypro®) on protein-energy supplements with different rates of protein degradation on animal performance, ruminal bacterial diversity, ruminal and blood parameters in Nellore cattle, in growing phase during the dry season. The study will be divided into two experiments (1 - evaluation of animal performance and 2 - evaluation of ruminal bacterial diversity and ruminal and blood parameters). The evaluations will be carried out concurrently from 07/2017 to 11/2017 (14 days of adaptation and 4 periods of 28 days), and the animals were kept in pasture of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu. The energetic protein supplement (28% crude protein) will be supplied daily in the amount of 3 g / kg body weight. In experiment 1, 64 Nellore cattle (22 months of age and average body weight of 300 kg - uncastrated males) will be distributed in 16 pens (4 padock per treatment, 4 animals per padock) in complete blocks at random (weight as blocking) in a 2 × 2 factorial. Factors will include 1) low and high protein degradation rate and 2) presence or absence of tannin extracts (SilvaFeed Bypro® - blend of condensed and hydrolyzed tannins). In Experiment 2, eight Nellore cattle (22 months of age and mean body weight of 300 kg - castrated males), rumen fistulated, will be randomly assigned to a 4 × 4 double Latin square. Statistical analyzes will be performed using PROC MIXED SAS. The level of significance will be declared at 5% probability and trend explored from 5 to 10%. (AU)
