Abstract

The development of this search room abroad aims to characterize the historical coating mortars existing in the La Ceramo factory, by means of theoretical study, in situ and the collection of samples in various points of the building, for the subsequent realization of laboratory tests. The project will enable the student to acquire knowledge about this type of material, as well as contact with other testing techniques, in addition to the scientific initiation project already in progress. When starting the study with the characterization of the lining mortars of a historic building, we propose a work with an experimental program different from the one executed in Brazil, in this case, at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia - UPV, in Spain, city with which our search group MAPE - Manifestações Patológicas em Edificações has search links. Thus, physico-mechanical characteristics of samples of coating mortars removed from the La Ceramo factory will be evaluated. The physical-mechanical characteristics studied are: determination of compressive strength, water content (gravimetric method), scanning electron microscopy (MEV), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal analysis (TG/DTA), determination of water absorption by immersion, determination of apparent porosity and determination of bulk density. The need for preventive conservation in buildings of historical interest makes this work of investigative and scientific nature. The knowledge of the original materials is the initial step for a good intervention and not to accelerate and the process of degradation of historical constructions. (AU)
