Abstract

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus is a common complication during pregnancy. Recent work has demonstrated failure in maintenance of muscle health, called "Diabetic Myopathy", regardless of glycemic level. Researches have evidenced important morphological changes in the rectus abdominis muscle and urethral striated of sedentary diabetic pregnant rats. Thus, it is important to evaluate the role of exercise in aquatic environment on prevention or regeneration of rectus abdominis and urethral striated muscles of pregnant rats with moderate diabetes to subsidize clinical application in humans. Purpose: Analyze morphologically the effect of exercise in aquatic environment over rectus abdominis and urethral striated muscles of pregnant rats with moderate diabetes. Material and method: the study will consist of 20 pregnant rats induced to moderate diabetes, and 20 non-diabetic pregnant rats. Each group will have 10 rats submitted to the exercise in aquatic environment from 1st to 21st day of pregnancy, and 10 rats submitted only to contact with water during pregnancy. Will be performed morphological analyze of muscles fibers and extracellular matrix of rectus abdominis and urethral striated muscles by Conventional Photonic Microscopy (HE, Picrossirius and immunohistochemistry) and Transmission Eletronic Microscopy (muscle fibers and extracellular matrix ultrastructure). The minimum confidence level will be 95% (level of significance <0,05). (AU)
