Abstract

Water is essential for plant development and changes in its availability might cause consequences for plant metabolism, which can lead to changes in the structure of tissues and cells. Therefore, in this work we will analyze if there is variation in the structure and density of the secretory canals in the rays of the secondary xylem and phloem of the stem in young plants of Astronium graveolens Jacq. (Anacardiaceae) in different water regimes. We will use stem samples from young plants grew in different water treatments (field capacity, moderate deficiency, severe deficiency, continuous irrigation). We will use usual techniques for anatomical study of wood and bark. We assemble slides with three sections (transverse, longitudinal tangential and radial longitudinal) containing secondary xylem and phloem to obtain results of canals density, wall thickness of epithelial cells and lumen diameter of the canals. With this study, it will be possible to understand if there are alterations in the production of canals with the different water treatments.
