Analysis of the effects of different numbers of application with laser photobiomodulation (660nm) in viability of skin flap in rats

Abstract

The skin flap is one of the techniques most used in plastic surgeries and repairers. Although it is a simple technique and frequently used, some postoperative complications can occur, such as tissue necrosis. Research has shown positive results in the treatments with laser photobiomodulation (660nm) to reduce the necrotic area caused by this type of procedure, as it contributes to the process of neoangiogenesis. However, there is no research concerning the influence of the number of laser photobiomodulation applications for this purpose, so our objective is to verify the best number of laser photobiomodulation applications to increase the viability of skin flaps. For this we will use 60 animals (Wistar rats) divided into 5 groups of, where all will be submitted to the cutaneous flap process and the tissue necrosis induction. Soon after four groups will receive different amounts of applications of the laser photobiomodulation, while one will be used as a control. At the end of the experiment, the necrosed area will be quantified, as well as histological and immunohistochemical analyzes in all groups, aiming at comparing the number of applications was more effective in the reduction of the necrotic area (AU)
