Abstract

Organizing has always been in the nature of man. In information science, the process of organizing information involves representation - by replacing an element with a linguistic expression - and classification - by grouping elements by their similarities and separating them by their differences -, always aiming at the recovery of information. To conceptualize these terms is important because it allows the understanding of the concept as a unit of knowledge and communication, as it is represented by linguistic expressions and to be called knowledge is necessary its communication, according to the theory of terminology. That is, the possession of an area only becomes effective with the possession of its terminology, the understanding of the concepts and their relations. In this way, we intend to investigate basic concepts and comprehensiveness of terminology and information science, regarding the application of terminological principles in processes and systems of knowledge organization. To do so, the methodology of content analysis will be used, with corpus of analysis the Brazilian journals of information science with Qualis A1, A2 and B1 indicators, covering the last ten years, in which the occurrence of terms collected from the two areas defined in the project. It is hoped by means of the number of occurrence and the analysis of the collected terms to identify to analyze the conceptual relations between the semantic fields of the areas under study. (AU)
