Morphological and immunohistochemistry characterization of thymus from dogs with Visceral Leishmaniosis

Abstract

The thymus is needed for a difference in T cells, a process that depends on the type of antigens found by thymocytes, the surrounding environment as cells of the difference, the architecture of the thymus. These characteristics are altered by local infection and by inflammatory mediators that accompany systemic infections. It was believed that time is an immunologically privileged organ, but it is now known that as anti-microbial responses are recruited into the thymus. Resolving the infection is not important because a persistence of micro-agents inhibits T-cell pathogen-specific differentiation and decreases resistance to infection. To understand as such mechanisms for a resistance or susceptibility to disease; requires a more in-depth investigation of the thymus behavior in dogs with VL. Considering a variation in the immune response of dogs with leishmaniasis, the importance of time in maturation / differentiation of progenitor cells from the bone marrow, in functional T cells, present objective study, morphology and tissue distribution of hematopoietic and stromal cells in the thymus of dogs infected with Leishmania infantum. * Histopathological evaluation on sections stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin. * Morphological study of the distribution of positive cells to cytokeratin and vimentin. * Detect a presence and distribution of T lymphocytes (CD3 +), B (CD20 +), and macrophages (MAC 386) in the thymus with the use of immunohistochemistry. * Check for parasite infection in the thymus of dogs with leishmaniasis (AU)
