Abstract This project proposes to describe a set of modernist techniques developed by James Joyce in his Ulysses. The intention is to identify one technique per episode and explain it as autonomously as possible. One main objetive is to offer a contribution to the current literary debate in Brazil, which seems to be marked by two falsely contradictory positions: one the hand a literature based on spontaneity and immediacy, where technique is secondary, and on the other a literature which conceives of technique as detached from life, as an abstract artifact. | |
