Abstract

It is of paramount importance that tourism professionals be capable of using the technical terminology used in their area of expertise. This work is the continuity of a scientific initiation research, which was funded by the Affirmative Actions Program. The object of study in this research is the study of the terminology of tourism in the area of hospitality. The main objective of the cited research was to propose the creation of a glossary of terms in the hospitality area. It is important to emphasize that the research was developed as a team and already had some parts developed: 62 terms were already raised in the field of hospitality and terminology forms were also created (one for each term), for the purpose of identifying the traits of the concepts of each term; Establish a definition template and write the definitions. As a way of continuing that research, this new research is presented with the proposal to find the English equivalents of 32 of these terms, contributing to the creation of a bilingual hospitality glossary in Portuguese and English.
