Abstract

The technology development in civil construction has enabled new constructible techniques and an improvement in other ones. Colored concrete is also in this context and the opportunity to add color in edifications has been used more often by architects and civil engineers. Therefore, the knowledge about the behavior of color additives in Brazilian tropical climate is important to choose a proper pigment and assure design quality. The purpose of this research is to measure the color durability and stability in colored concrete in order to provide basement for architectural design. The research will begin with a bibliographical review and interviews with national architects, who designed buildings with this technique. The analysis of the color under aggressive climate will be evaluated through the real samples which will be exposed to different climatic conditions. The expected result is to prove that pigment in colored concrete is affected by the material proportion used during its manufacturing process; that every material when exposed to weather suffers a natural aging process, in other words, the color properties can be modified and the application of a protection system it may contribute to ensure the durability of apparent concrete.
