Abstract

The only property used as quality control of concrete was the compressive strength. Currently, in addition to mechanical properties, its durability has been widely discussed due to the occurrence of early deterioration in reinforced concrete structures. In some cases, the repair and rehabilitation of deteriorated structures is more costly than a new structure. As a result, it is proposed, in this study, evaluating a structure that is inserted into the UFSCar campus through nondestructive tests. For this evaluation mapping of existing pathological demonstrations will be held and, from these, colorimetric test will be performed to estimate the carbonation degree of some elements. Furthermore, in some cases, rebound method (Schmidt rebound hammer) will be applied to estimate some parameters that can evaluate the mechanical strength of concrete. It should be pointed out that one of the most serious and frequent problems that occurs in reinforced concrete structures is the corrosion and one of the main initiators agents of process is the carbonation.
