Abstract

Based on the importance of aquaculture for the Brazilian economy and the need to understand the defense mechanisms of these fish to assist in the sanitary management. This research proposes to study and identify important aspects involved in the pathophysiology of the acute inflammatory reaction in tilapias (Oerochromis niloticus), by evaluating the anti-inflammatory activity of 5 and 10 mg zileuton / kg body weight, orally administered in the diet, on the kinetics of cellular accumulation in aerocysteine induced by Aeromonas hydrophila bacterins. To this end, 72 young tilapia will be used, packed in 9 aquariums with 100 L of water each, supplied with running water devoid of chlorine, from an artesian well with a flow rate of 1 L / min, with the following treatments : T0 (control), T1 (Treatment with 5 mg zileuton) and T2 (Treatment with 10 mg zileuton). Eight animals will be evaluated per treatment in three periods, ie: six, 24 and 48 hours after inoculation, to collect the exudate present in the swim bladder and blood samples to determine the blood count. The correlation between the hematological findings and the cell count in the inflamed focus will allow to investigate the participation of leukotrienes on the pathophysiology of the acute inflammatory reaction in tilapias. In addition to promoting technical-scientific knowledge in aquaculture, the findings of this research may represent important advances in the determination of alternative experimental models for the study of lipoxygenase participation in acute inflammation.
