Abstract

This project will be conducted from February to November 2019 under the supervision of professor Vania A. Ceccato in the Department of Urban Planning and Environment, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. The overall objective of the research internship abroad is to develop two of the three essays of the Ph.D. thesis project approved by São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). The first essay investigates the determinants of cargo theft in the state of São Paulo, and the second analyzes the relationship between economic growth, socioeconomic development and homicide rates in rural Brazil. The plan is to prepare the essays of the thesis for submission and publication in international journals after qualification and defense of the thesis on returning to Brazil. (AU)
