Abstract

The use of pesticides has been increasing over the years for its efficiency in the treatment of pests, but this overuse is worrisome, because they become contaminants to soil and water. One of these pesticides is malathion, an organophosphorus insecticide used for agricultural purposes. Due to the presence of functional groups capable of interacting with metal ions, they can interact and form metal complexes, changing their characteristics and properties. The study of this interaction becomes necessary and important. The use of electroanalytical techniques has proved to be satisfactory for such studies. From this, it is possible to understand the effect of this interaction by evaluating the absorption of these new species by the soil, with the aid of other techniques, such as spectrometric techniques. The metals of interest in this work are copper, lead and cobalt, which we can evaluate the effect of this complexation on metals known as essential (copper and cobalt) and toxic (lead). (AU)
