Abstract The increase in the number of mobile devices called Smartphones and their widespread use has had a significant impact on human relations, especially in cases of their excessive use. Thus, while such technologies bring benefits and facilities to people's lives their use can also bring significant, as similar characteristics to dependency, causing physical distress and social isolation. There is an interest in trying to understand the possible links between the intense use of smartphones and the psychological characteristics of their users. This study intends to investigate the possible correlations of the use of smartphones with levels of anxiety, depression and self-esteem. For this, the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS-BR) and the Beck anxiety and depression inventory will be used, as well as the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). In addition, the Five-Factor NEO Revised Inventory (NEO-FFI-R) and a questionnaire on the use of the smartphone (QPUS) will be applied. Pearson correlations will be conducted in order to understand the relationship between the measurements obtained by the tests. (AU) | |
