Abstract

The present research project aims at investigating the control of two-level quantum systems by external time-dependent fields. In particular, we consider the electric dipole interaction between a two-level system and a classical field. We intent to efficiently control the transition between arbitrary states of the system. The goal is to find time-dependent control fields which can induce the desired transition. To this end, we will develop an analytical approach based on a recent study. Moreover, we will apply the quantum control technique known as D-MORPH, to numerically find the control fields. This technique allows to find distinct control fields that perform the same transition, but with different characteristics, such as different frequency spectra. We intent to investigate how the dynamics is altered by the distinct control mechanisms.
