Voice in you: the recognition of the human being through the voice in the drama

Abstract

This project aims to discuss the importance of vocality in the actors' preparation and work, considering that many times in the vocal training the word and the text have been prioritized, leaving behind the meanings of the voice. It is also intended to analyze how the resumption of the vocality, which expands itself with the artistic vanguards of the Twentieth Century, in the context of the theater, can serve as a recognizing instrument of yourself and the other, having the voice as a path to access to the deepest layers of the human being. The project will be theoretical and practical and will start from the work Vozes Plurais - Filosofia da Expressão Vocal by Adriana Cavarero and Performance, recepção e leitura by Paul Zumthor. The practical part will involve a group of at the least ten actors, whose voices will be trained by integrating practices of breathing, like Experienced Breathing and the method of actors training of CPT (Centro de Pesquisa Teatral), developed by Antunes Filho, with the goal of establishing a sensorial relation with the other, so that the perception overcome the word and falls into the echoes of the human condition. Information will be collected through interviews, personal records of the students and collective talks with the group so we can see how vocality perception guides us to the recognition of our humanity and how this influences the actors' work, allowing new performatic languages to arise.
