Abstract

The present project aims to contribute to a reflection about the relation stablished between the Brazilian literature and the Brazilian military dictatorship. Based on the semiotics theory proposed by Greimas and its currents developments, we intend to analyze the book Sombras de Reis Barbudos (1972), from José Veiga, showing how this work builds a singular perspective related to the history of the military dictatorship. The research will also tackle Michel Foucault's reflections, specially in his book Vigiar e punir, to understand the power relation stablished in social institutions, known as "kidnapping institutions" and “disciplinary institutions"; and also to understand the way that this power shapes the individual's life.
