Abstract

The proposal of this study is to investigate possible interconnection between phonetic-phonological characteristics of speech and orthographic characteristics of writing in children with speech sound disorders (SSD). Particularly, the aim of this investigation is to compare and correlate phonetic-phonological characteristics of speech data and orthographic characteristics of writing data in children with SSD. An amount of 10 children with SSD will be selected. It will be evaluated both these characteristics - plosives, fricatives and sonorants - by means of the tool PERCEFAL. Concerning to speech, it will be analyzed children phonetic inventory and phonological system. Correct Consonant Percentual - Reviewed (PCC-R) will measure the SSD severity. Aside, the proportion between the correct and incorrect target phonemes within each one of phonological classes under investigation will be indicated. Finally, this proportion will be compared with those in children orthographic performance, by means of Correct Consonant Graphemes Percentual - PGCC. Finally, a descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of data will be done with appropriated tests to compare and correlate the speech production (PCC-R) to the orthographic performance (PGCC).
