It is possible to observe in the scientific works that one of the interests in investigating children's writing is to search for theoretical basis for a better understanding of the impact of the language characteristics over the writing process. Because of its importance for the literacy practices, the pursuit for the control over the language functioning would contribute to the analysis of children's writing - specially when this analysis is focused on non-conventional writing -, because such knowledge enables the identification of instability moments that language itself provoke on the writing. Therefore, considering that children (listeners) could transport traits of their leaning on symbolic characteristics of sound components of the language to their initial writing, we aim to observe how the phonological characteristics of the metrical foot could be shown in the orthography of Brazilian and Portuguese children, once the linguistic varieties for Portuguese present phonological differences. In order to do that, we analyze, for Brazilian Portuguese, a corpus from the Research Group Studies on the Language (GPEL/CNPq), composed by 63 writing productions made by children from Primary School - first to fifth grades. As for the European Portuguese, we analyze the children writing productions that compose a data base which supports the research productions from the Correlation Between Writing and Speaking Investigation Center provided by Investigation and Development unit from the Linguistics Center of the University of Lisbon (CLUL), which is part of the Languages College from the University of Lisbon. Firstly, we quantify the presence of syllabic transpositions, verifying their placement in the transpositions: double inter-syllabic, simple inter-syllabic, double intra-syllabic, and simple intra-syllabic (AMARANTE; CHACON, 2022). After that, we use the metric foot as main analysis unit in order to observe whether the transpositions starting and finishing points are the same as the more or less complex positions of the metric foot. Lastly, we compare our findings on the Brazilian and Portuguese children's writings in order to understand whether the transposition phenomena would present - or not - similar functioning in different linguistic varieties.
