Abstract

The intent of this project is to reflect on Roberto Cardoso de Oliveira's intellectual path. I aim to contribute to the historiography produced about anthropology in Brazil, specifically about its institutionalization in the last decades of the past century. This research will be conducted through the study of Cardoso de Oliveira's archive currently deposited at Edgard Leuenroth Archive (AEL), based at Unicamp. Thus, it it expected the development of two reflections: to present a new perspective, with an analysis of personal material, about one of the people most responsible for the consolidation of the discipline in the country (through the creation of the programs of post-graduation at the National Museum, at the University of Brasilia and at the State University of Campinas), and also the proponent of a story of the discipline in Brazil; as well as to reflect on the heuristics possibilities of an ethnography of archives that contributes to new informations on this anthropologist and his work. The research to be conducted in the archive has as center line the correspondences and other personal documents that will be confronted with interviews with people that had an important role in his trajectory and that may auxiliate the investigation, also contributing to the constitution of a collection of narratives in videos that may be utilized by other researchers.
