Abstract

A good quality of life (QoL) is fundamental for the medical professional and the medical student, since this one undergoes many trials, changes and adaptations during its formation, besides possessing a high suicide rate. Many factors in medical education can influence it, which must have it known to enable improvement and adaptations for a future QoL upgrade. For this same reason, it is very important for the student to have a correct self-assessment about their quality of life, in order to know where to look and change certain habits of life. A previous pilot study showed a discrepancy between students' self-perception about their QoL when compared to the SF-36 validated questionnaire. Objectives: To verify if there is agreement in the student's perception and a validated instrument in relation to his own QoL; to evaluate the reasons for the possible variance of the self perception of the QoL in the different domains, besides to relate the quality of life of the student with the stage of the course and gender. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional qualitative study, conducted in São José do Rio Preto-SP with both sexes medical students of FACERES, between 18 and 30 years old. Students will respond to three questionnaires in order to compare their self-perception of their quality of life with the result of a validated questionnaire and try to understand the reason for possible discrepancies.
