[10]-gingerol formulation: in vitro studies in triple-negative breast cancer cells

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common neoplasia in women worldwide, and it is divided indifferent types. Among them, triple-negative (TN), is known for not expressing hormone receptors, and HER2 receptor either, it comprises 20% of breast cancer cases and has high metastasis formation incidence, mainly to vital organs such as bones, lungs and brain, resulting in a bad prognostic. Due it cellular profile, there is no target therapies for this type of breast cancer, therefore the search for new treatments is important, to increase patients life expectancy, as well as improve their life quality, by reducing side effects of the therapies used clinically (chemotherapy and radiotherapy). Thus, natural products are a great source to study new targets for TN Breast Cancer therapy, several natural products were shown to have antitumoral and ant metastatic effect. Previous results from our research group demonstrated the [10]-gingerol molecule efficiency in breast cancer TN ant proliferative activity, pro-apoptotic and ant metastatic effects in vitro and in vivo, however due the low solubility of this molecule this can be reducing its in vivo efficiency. Therefore, the aim of this research project is study alternative [10]-gingerol's formulation and verify their in vitro effects.
