Abstract

Wastewater treatment is a very important stage of basic sanitation and the generated sludge management represents a problem for professionals in the area. Thus, alternative methods of reuse and final disposal of this waste have been developed. The present work has as objective the application of corn straw lignin as a conditioning polymer in the wastewater treatment plant sludge dewatering. The Jartest will be used as equipment for the preparation of polymer solutions as well as for sludge conditioning. The process efficiency will be determined based on the final moisture content and, if necessary, chemical modifications will be made to the lignin structure in order to achieve better results.
