Abstract

Qualitative and quantitative elemental evaluation of samples is of great importance for agricultural and environmental sciences. These analyzes can be performed by several methods and equipment. In this context, total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) technique is under consolidation since it presents limits of detection in the order of ¼g L-1 or ¼g kg-1, wide range of linear calibration and access to all elements with Z>11 of the periodic table. Additionally, it only requires small amount of sample for analysis and presents low operating cost. This project aims at assembling and commissioning a vacuum TXRF system with automatic sample holder, unprecedented in Brazil, that will operate in multiuser mode at CENA-USP. As a result, the execution of this project will make available to the Brazilian scientific community an alternative tool to conventional analytical techniques.
