Abstract

The present research aims to analyze, investigate and discuss the process through which the Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG) elaborated its political project for Brazil, focusing on our study the main course of the institution, the Curso Superior de Guerra (CSG). We believe that the Escola, especially through the CSG, was one of the main nuclei around which the articulated civilians and military devised strategies to cope with the Cold War scenario: strategies that should involve a society effort to promote "security" and "development" as coping mechanisms for what was considered to be "total war". Based on this, we intend to recover the contents and debates within the CSG, as well as their most relevant concerns and references, in order to observe the way in which the security/development binomial has been thought and rethought over time, giving rise to the a political project called Doutrina de Segurança Nacional e Desenvolvimento (DSN).
