Abstract

The present research analyzes the process through which the Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG) elaborated its political project for Brazil, focusing on the main course of the institution, the Curso Superior de Guerra (CSG). Concentrated between the years 1949 and 1964, the analysis situates the course within the context of the Cold War clashes. In light of that conflict, the thesis unravels the ways in which the subjects \"Total War,\" \"National Security,\" and Development, and those derived from them, were discussed and reconsidered within the institution. Taking the course as the main research locus, the thesis explores the Escola\'s political action in the Cold War agenda, explains the assumptions around which that action organized itself, and the ways in which they led to the formulation of a political project for Brazil.
