Abstract Degenerate parametric amplification is a nonlinear process that generates two photons of same frequency in a binary phase state (either 0 or pi with respect to the pump laser). In this project, we take advantage of this property to simulate spin states and find the ground state of an Ising Hamiltonian. This Ising machine is to be implemented in on-chip optical platforms and could potentially enhance the computation efficiency of other hard-solving combinatorial optimization problems, such as the famous travelling salesman problem.
