Abstract

This research has as main objective to understand popular trajectories at São Paulo's center, during the process of urban renewal currently in course. Interventions aiming this transformation in the territory have been proposed by public and private sectors and, between them, there is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to construct a new hospital at the region known by "Cracolândia". This project has already removed 200 households without providing any housing guarantee to the families affected. Despite the lack of public support, these families have these families have remained in the center of São Paulo, by building their own permanence' strategies while facing all the threats that press or push them out of this territory. This research aims to follow this popular trajectories to understand how they are transforming the city and which new resistances are emerging alongside the process of urban renewal. (AU)
