Abstract

This research project involves the analysis and management of information related to food-water-energy nexus (FWEN) in cities. The research is focused on quantifying the nexus and understanding the aspects related to food-water-energy (FWE) trade-offs in urban activities. The candidate will develop along with other members of the international consortium, a method to quantitatively and qualitatively assess the changes FWE nexus using Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI). This will include date gathering and analysis on FWEN cases initiatives in cities, especially those using GBI, which will be done together with the project partners using a Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) database. The final products will be two high impact academic articles for publication per year in international journals and a final report with a method to assess the FWE nexus using GBI, which can be applied in the case of Brazil, particularly in the State of São Paulo. The candidate will work with the main FGV/EAESP researcher and other members of the consortium for FWEN innovations in order to carry out his research project.This research is part of the project "Understanding Innovative Initiatives for Governing Food, Water and Energy Nexus in Cities" (IFWEN) funded by a partnership between FAPESP, Belmont Forum and JPI - Urban Europe, as part of the Sustainable Urbanisation Initiative (SUGI) developed by the IFWEN consortium, with partners in six countries. The scholarship will follow the standard for granting Post-Doctoral Fellowships linked to FAPESP's Thematic Projects.
