Abstract

The photovoltaic research was dramatically changed in the last years by the emerge of the perovskite solar cells. The efficiency of this type of solar cells increased in a fast rate and the currently record (23.3%) have placed this kind of device in competition with others well-established photovoltaic technologies, such as silicon and thin-film. Despite the high efficiency, many aspects of the perovskite should be better understood. In this particular, there is a lack of detailed information about the perovskite formation during deposition and the role of the intermediates phases. In situ measurements, such as grazing incidence wide angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS) during spin coating preparation, is one way to understand the preparation of this material. However, the preparation of the high efficient solar cell is crucial to a complete comprehension. The compressed air gas quenching (CAGS) replaces the antisolvent preparation method by a flow of air in the traditional solvent engineering method, making this method more controllable and more sustainable, as non-chlorinated solvents need to be used. However, the formation of perovskite material using CAGS method is poorly explored in the literature. This project aims to prepare high efficient (>20 %) perovskite solar cell through the CAGS method and correlate the results with previously measurements of in situ GIWAXS during spin coating performed at Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS). With the complete study we expect obtain a better understanding the preparation method and also to improve the efficiency of the solar cells assembled in our lab in Brazil. Additionally, we intend to study the replacement of the Pb2+ by Ba2+, aiming to achieve an optimum band gap value (1.6-1.75 eV) for tandem solar cells. For this goal, we will use formamidinum iodide-based perovskite previously studied in the host group. The BEPE host group has a high expertise to prepare perovskite solar cells with high efficiency and their participation is fundamental to development of the project and ongoing and future projects in our group.
