Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the sociality produced in the relationship between soccer and samba in the context of one supporter club (torcida organizada), the Grêmio Recreativo Cultural e Escola de Samba Gaviões da Fiel Torcida, considered within this model of collective fans the one that has the largest contingent of associates in the country. The Gaviões are pioneers (BUENO, 2015), among the fans organized in the city of São Paulo, following also in the paths of samba and its spectacular form, that is to say, as an institutionalized samba school. Through participant observation, from close and inside (MAGNANI, 2002), this research of an ethnographic character aims to understand the dynamics between the cheering stand and the avenue, to perceive in what way there are projected forms of interaction that by hypothesis could be defined as schismogenic BATESON, 2008) by repositioning the cheering and the universe of samba sociability in a competitive dynamic for status, political recognition and visibility of the fans as a collective. Such model contrasts with other fan experiences, making the act of cheering a continuous experimentation and sociality in the context or fringes of the professional soccer.
