Abstract

The research consists on understanding the concept of the hinterland in the book "O Romance da Pedra do Reino e o Príncipe do Sangue do Vai-e-Volta" of Ariano Suassuna. This discussion is part of the questions of geographical representations and ideologies in the context of popular culture, which means that, a debate is made on the role of the hinterland in the social, cultural, spatial and also symbolic formation of a certain place. All this immersed in the aesthetics of the Armorial Movement, of which Ariano Suassuna is founder, in the approach of the novel and in the way the hinterland space is represented.
