Abstract

High Blood Pressure is a multifactorial clinical condition, with a high morbidity and mortality rate and low control rates. Due to its high prevalence, it's essential to look for methods that aim to improve the quality of life of hypertensive patients. Studies have shown that the Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is able to induce a photobiological response inside the cells that modify the micro- and macrovascular response, in addition to evidence showing systemic effects with Intravascular Laser Irradiation of Blood (ILIB). In the hypothesis that LLLT may influence blood pressure levels, this study aims to test clinical research protocols that aim to determine the effect of photobiomodulation in relation to hemodynamic parameters in hypertensive patients. In this way, it will be subdivided into 4 groups, 44 participants attending a university outpatient clinic, which will be submitted to ILIB protocol sessions. The ILIB technique, in turn, is noninvasive and consists of a bracelet attached to a laser device, a brace that has been developed specifically for the light beam to be carried over the radial artery. Before the procedure, at the end of the photobiomodulation cycles and after 1 month at the end of therapy, blood samples will be collected for the evaluation of C-reactive protein, Interleukin 18 and Nitric Oxide, which will be analyzed by the respective methods: immunoturbidimetric test, ELISA method, and quantification of plasma nitrate through the Griess reaction. Data analysis will be done through descriptive and inferential statistics, with the help of SPSS version 24.0. The level of significance adopted in all tests will be 0.05.
