Abstract

The family that experience in the context of chemical dependency has a negative impact on its functionality. In the process of coping such adverse situation, family members of drug users seek resources to maintain hope in the recovery process of the drug user relative through spirituality. This study aims to analyze the correlation between hope and spirituality of family members of psychoactive substance users under treatment. A cross-sectional, cross-sectional, quantitative approach study with a sample of relatives of users of psychoactive substances being treated in Basic Health Care and Specialized services of a city in the interior of the State of São Paulo. Data collection instruments will consist of the Herth Hope Scale, Spirituality Scale of Pinto and Pais-Ribeiro and Resilience Scale of Wagnil and Young. The analysis will be through descriptive and inferential statistics. It is hoped that the results of this study may help health professionals, especially nurses, to recognize spirituality, hope and resilience as therapeutic tools in the process of caring for families of users of alcohol and other drugs.
