Abstract

Eating habits are introduced in the first years of life, when the child begins to know the food, tastes and starts a pleasurable process or not at the time of feeding. It is evidenced that this phase is essential to incorporate a behavior that results in the choice of a healthy diet. Thus, the study has the general objective of analyzing the nutritional situation in school-age children with eating habits. Methodology. It is a quantitative, cross-sectional study. The research universe consists of a non-probabilistic sample of 260 children, 6 to 10 years and both sexes, enrolled in a municipal public school in the Elementary School of the Municipality of Santo André. The search for data will be through the collection of primary and secondary data through school records; interview with the child and parents to obtain variables that deal with the individual characteristics of the child, sex, age; family socioeconomic characteristics; health history; anthropometry, evaluation of eating habits. The latter will be investigated by the type of food ingested at home and school, according to the Ministry of Health's Food Guide classification: fresh or minimally processed, processed and ultraprocessed foods. The analysis of the nutritional status will be by the IMC index, classified by WHO by Z score using WHO Anthro Plus 2009 software. Data processing and analysis will be performed by Epi-info statistical software, version 7.2.0; the analysis will be descriptive and bivariate through the chi-square test and difference of means for the quantitative and qualitative variables. Significance level at 5%.
