Abstract

The purpose of the research project presented has as objective analyze the effects of cycling on action of microwave energy, in total denture bases in acrylic resin. To that end, upper total denture bases will be heat cured acrylicresin manufactured. The following variables will be proposals: presence or not of rebasing (soft liner) of the total denture bases, and presence or not of the nylon support between original bases and the relines. The groups will be (N6):W- Resin Vw stored for 7 days at 37ºC (Control Group); WM- Resin Vw + cycleMO immediate + stored for 7 days at 37ºC; WR- Resin Vw and reliner stored for7 days at 37ºC (Control Group); WN- Resin Vw + nylon support; WMN- ResinVw + nylon support + cycle MO immediate+ stored for 7 days; WRM- Resin Vwand reliner + cycle MO immediate+ stored for 7 days at 37ºC; WRN- Resin Vwand reliner + nylon support stored for 7 days at 37ºC; WRNM- Resin Vw andreliner + nylon support + cycle MO immediate+ stored for 7 days at 37ºC. For analyses of the dimension modification of specimen will be considered analyses by referenced image points by equidistant defined metal balls in four points at specimen, being three localized at alveolar ridge crest and a region of the midpalatal raphe. The cycle in microwave will be realized with the parts immersed in water and the cycle will be of 650 W for 10 minutes. Scanned images of the external surface bases will be subjected an analyze by image comparison program Gom Inspect, before and after the realization of the cycling in microwave and, computed data will be subjected an statistical analysis moreappropriated.
