Abstract

Hydrodynamic tunnels have been applied to several engineering fields since the late 19th century, one of their main applications in the understanding of hydrodynamics/aerodynamics phenomenon in vehicles (of land, air or naval nature). In the early 2000's the construction of one hydrodynamic tunnel began at the Mechanical Engineering Department, UNESP- Ilha Solteira. Using this tunnel available in the Visualization Laboratory, experimental tests will be developed with the purpose of understanding and investigating the aerodynamics of the Jubarte whale ends, whose protrusions at the leading edge due to the speciation and adaptation to the environment of these animals can result in performance gains for aerodynamic profiles used in the aeronautical sector. The experiment will be conducted in the available vertical hydrodynamic tunnel in the unit's Flow Visualization Laboratory.
