Abstract

Since the 1960s, the debate about the history of architecture has grown. David Watkin's "The Rise of Architectural History", published in 1980, is referenced in the architectural historiography outline - from the 17th century until the year of its publication. The work historically presents publications according to series of key countries (Germany, France, Italy, North America and England) and series of key authors for understanding art and architecture history. These textual registrations and books quoted were decisive, according to Watkin's point of view, in the disciplines perception, shaping and rise, first applied to art history and, later, to architecture history as an academic study. Therefore, this research aims to review and survey the historiographic study of David Watkin, from a technological perspective, through information management by using digital tools, such as Excel spreadsheets and bibliographic index, such as Zotero. The data analysis and adequacy enabled the composition of a digital book repository in Omeka database, which allows free access to readers. Furthermore, developed methodologies and researches in information visualization for express the obtained results may contribute to further relevant historiographic investigations. (AU)
