Abstract

The purpose of this research is to briefly systematize the similarities and differences between the theory and the method of dream analysis of Freud and Jung, identifying Freud's influences in the formation of the Jungian theory and method of dream interpretation. Dream analysis is fundamental to clinical practice and to the epistemological understanding of Freudian and Jungian theory, because as the two approaches see the dream as a direct product of the unconscious, understanding this phenomenon helps to understand the psychic functioning. One of the most striking phenomena of contact with the unconscious is the dream and there is a shortage of epistemological works on the subject in the contemporaneity.
