Biomarkers of the natural infection by gastrointestinal nematodes in lambs

Abstract

The work aims to investigate the correlation between weight, fecal egg counts per gram of feces, packed cell volume and biochemical markers in order to determine the profile of biomarkers in accordance with the degree of infection for gastrintestinais helmintos in lambs in the phase of raising in half-confinement proceeding from an integrated farming system. The experiment will last 70 days at Experimental Farm Lageado - School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (FMVZ/UNESP) in the city of Botucatu/SP. Thirty-two Corriedale breed lambs will be used with average age of 90 days old and initial weight medium of 23 kg, deriving of commercial creation. The animals will remain in pole for grazing in black oats during the day and collected for shed in the afternoon. The animals will be supplemented with ration of concentrated base and the ensilages resultant of the trusts. To each 14 days will be carried through weighing, sanguineous analyses (hematocrit, serum concentrations of total proteins, albumen, of the lipidic and pancreatic profile, of total calcium, match, magnesium) and nematode larval identification analyses. Data will be analyzed using the UNIVARIATE, MIXED, REG and MEAN SAS procedures (version 9.4; SAS Inst Inc., Cary, NC, USA) and submitted to analysis of normality and variance. Mean values will be adjusted by the least square method and used in the analysis of multiple comparisons (P d 0.05).
