Abstract

Recent studies on the phylogenetic classification of Orthoptera have begun to elucidate the evolutionary relationships, which for a long time remained controversial in the group. The first phylogenetic study of crickets was recently published, and although it recovered some monophyletic families, groups that were traditionally recognized were not recovered. This is the case of Landrevinae Gorochov, 1982 - a subfamily distributed in the Neotropical, Afrotropical, Eastern and Australasian regions - which was polyphyletic and divided into three distinct clades. Landrevinae currently has 193 valid species, distributed in 40 genera and 3 tribes: Landrevini (Oriental and Australasian), Odontogryllinae (Neotropical) and Prolandrevinae (Afrotropical). The aims of this project are to examine and compare morphological characters with emphasis in the male genitalia and tegmina of the specimens of Landrevinae deposited at Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences (ZIN) in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and the Muséum national d'Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) in Paris, France; to obtain morphological data of Landrevinae and related taxa which will be used as outgroup (Gryllinae, Sclerogryllinae, Itarinae, Gryllomorphinae), and included all obtained data in a data matrix with those characters previously constructed in Brazil to perform a cladistic analysis.
