Abstract

Post-harvest rot has been responsible for losses by producers, which has limited the marketing of in natura agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables. The fungus Alternaria alternata is the cause of the black rot in tomato in postharvest; its control is carried out with fungicides, which contributes to the need of alternatives that present a lower risk to human health. Yeasts are studied as agents of biological control in fruits, as these are their natural habitat. Considering the above, the objective of the project is to determine the potential of formulations with the yeasts Trichosporon asahii (3S44) and Torulaspora globosa (5S55) in the control of the fungus A. alternata in tomato. The efficiency of the lineages in the protection of the tomato against the fungus attack will be evaluated. From the results it is expected to know more about the potential of these in the control of the fungus A. alternata, enabling a sustainable alternative for the control of fruit rot.
