Abstract The present proposal of research has as reference a development process of a new product during which a step patent was registered with performance recorder coupled to a software. The objective of this product was to be an economically viable ergometer, easy to apply and interpret, low cost and use reduced space for evaluation of the cardiorespiratory fitness. However, although the desirable characteristics have guided the whole development, it is necessary to analyze the prototypes constructed from the previous specifications of the engineering project, in order to ponder on the design of the artifact and the process as a whole. Thus, the main objective of this research is to analyze the product development process from a series of prototypes and to assist in carrying out tests with different users, aiming to improve the product in terms of engineering design in the context of rehabilitation of cardiorespiratory diseases and the application of different types of prototypes in participatory processes of designing new products. To obtain such results, the functionalities and specifications of the patent "BR 20 2015 000603 4" registered along with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) will be reviewed. From the engineering design specifications of the ergometric step under analysis, a research method was established with triangulation of data and evaluation criteria for the test phases. These will include prototypes interaction with the users (evaluator and evaluated), a functional test called "2 minutes Step Test" and the application of questionnaires specific to each type of user.Key words: ergometric step; participatory design; design specifications; technological innovation; engineering design; prototyping. | |
