Abstract

The present study aims to correlate sensory processing and engagement in family routines of children in typical development, enrolled in integral elementary education at the age of 3 years, from the perspective of parents and guardians. With the evolution of the thought related to the development of children, we have that today development is a variable process and depends on interaction. From this knowledge, the child, the responsible person, and the physical and social environment can contribute substantially and in an interdependent way to the development and adaptations of the child. Aiming to assist the family member in improving the child's results, this study focuses on the insertion of the family in the evaluation of the needs and in the identification of the priorities of a possible intervention. Assuming that the complex process of assimilation and learning takes place at the various levels of the nervous system, sensory information being used as a nutrient for it to develop and learning to happen, we will identify the possible correlations between sensory processing and child's family routines. Data collection will be performed through the completion of the two questionnaires by the parents, under the supervision of the researcher, during school meetings. Thus, it is intended to contribute to Brazilian scientific production on the relationship between sensory processing and child engagement, considering that the international literature is quite productive on the subject.
