Abstract

This project aims to investigate a possible alliance between the political thinking of Angela Davis and Judith Butler. Such research is motivated by the interest in analyzing how the authors criticize the unity of the category "women" and displace the subject of feminism. Bearing that in mind, we will approach the concept of intersectionality and how it is expressed in Women, Race and Class, highlighting how the three categories are articulated in the experience of black women in the United States. Subsequently, we will focus our analysis on the work Gender Trouble and the concept of performative identity. With this, we intend to reach a better understanding about its different forms of resistance and political struggle and what the possible theoretical alliances between these two strands of feminist theory would be.
