Abstract

The present project aims at the discovery of bioactive compounds produced by microorganisms isolated from the Antarctic. In cold environments, there are extremophilic beings that have specific metabolisms due to stress situations. Few studies have investigated the composition and functionality of the microbiota of cold ecosystems. Finding bioactive substances produced by marine-derived fungal isolated from cold environments constitutes a strategy for the discovery of bioactive compounds potentially useful for the treatment of human diseases, such as Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, infections and certain types of cancer. The extracts of fungal isolated from the Antarctic continent presented biological activities. These extracts will undergo HPLC-UV-MS and UPLC-QTOF analyses and be subjected to bioguided isolation.
