Abstract

Brazil presents different herds within its territory, being them dairy, cattle or mixed, raised mainly in extensive system and, a minority, in intensive system. This heterogeneity of herds alters the form of dissemination and even the importance of a disease within a herd. Brucellosis is a disease that predominantly affects herds raised on pasture with a large proportion of pregnant females, as the main reason for the presence of brucellosis in the herd is the increase in the occurrence of abortion that can contaminate the pasture and perpetuate the spread of the disease. Modeling is an important mathematical tool because it allows the study of the behavior of diseases within the population based on the epidemiological profile of this population. Based on the model developed by Amaku et al. (2009), this study seeks the elaboration of a method of analysis that can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of sampling strategies and, among them, to evaluate the most suitable for use in different scenarios
